Purchase garden sculptures by Jörg Ridderbusch—art created from recycled materials
With a touch of humor, he transforms scrap metal and other discarded items—such as various parts from wrecked cars—into colorful, fascinating, and whimsical figures.
About Jörg Ridderbusch
In 1984, Jörg Ridderbusch (born 1954 in Fürstenau, Lower Saxony) co-founded the metal construction company Ridderbusch Metal. This was a logical step for Ridderbusch, who had previously worked as a bench fitter and welder in the mechanical engineering sector, and later spent time in Kenya, where he served as a teacher involved in development aid.
Less logical, perhaps, is the step he took a few years ago: creating striking metal sculptures from scrap iron and other waste materials, including parts from scrapped cars. In doing so, he discovered a new challenge in the realm of fine art. While this venture takes Ridderbusch into an entirely different field, the techniques and materials he employs keep him close to his roots. Alongside his steel fabrication work, he now conjures up creatures—such as birds, mice, and other animals—perched on iron pedestals. He even fashions thrones for kings and queens out of objects like stair railings. In this way, he infuses emotion into material often perceived as cold and soulless—material that, moreover, has reached the end of its life cycle. He transforms this cold substance in a playful manner, combining it with colorful, fantastical figures that seem to have stepped straight out of a world of fairy tales and legends.
A work of art defined by contrast and color
These evocative pieces are distinguished by their beautiful, unique aesthetic, serving as striking focal points for both interiors and gardens. Every creation by Jörg Ridderbusch is sure to bring a smile to your face.
Weathered, oxidized iron creates a sharp contrast against a palette of vibrant colors, ensuring these artworks immediately command attention. Ridderbusch’s work captivates many and is perfectly suited for outdoor display—not only due to its scale, but also because of its ‘natural’ quality, blending the rust-brown tones of the iron with the fresh, cheerful colors of his whimsical creatures. In a garden or outdoor space, these bird-inspired sculptures act as true eye-catchers, drawing the gaze back to them time and again.
