About Rick Triest:
Rick Triest (Purmerend, 1989) is a contemporary Dutch artist. He is entirely self-taught and describes his work as hotel chic and glamour. The iconic Amsterdam canal houses are a recurring theme in his oeuvre, often playfully combined with logos from luxury brands.
Although his style is modern, he uses classical techniques, inspired by masters such as Rembrandt. Each painting begins with a charcoal sketch on canvas, which he then builds up with 8 to 12 layers of acrylic paint. The thickly applied paint creates a tactile, almost three-dimensional texture.
The paintings feature a gold wax seal with Triest's signature and are supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
