Rick Triest - Amsterdam Designer Shopping Street III - Canal Houses with Luxury Brands
Five Amsterdam canal houses in shades of brown, gold, and navy blue against a light, white-blue sky. The names of fashion houses such as Chanel, Dior, Moncler, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Hermès adorn the facades, and the Louis Vuitton monogram is incorporated in the foreground. Thick layers of acrylic paint and gold lines give the canvas texture and a luxurious appearance.
About Rick Triest:
Rick Triest (Purmerend, 1989) is a contemporary Dutch artist. He is entirely self-taught and describes his work as hotel chic and glamour. The iconic Amsterdam canal houses form a common thread in his oeuvre, often playfully combined with logos of luxury brands.
Although his style is modern, he uses classical techniques, inspired by masters such as Rembrandt. Each painting begins with a charcoal sketch on canvas, after which he builds it up in 8 to 12 layers of acrylic paint. The thickly applied paint creates a tactile, almost three-dimensional structure.
The paintings feature a gold wax seal with Triest's signature and are delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
