About Rick Triest:
Rick Triest (Purmerend 1989) is a successful contemporary Dutch artist. He is entirely self-taught and describes his work as: hotel chic and glamour. The iconic Amsterdam canal houses are a recurring theme in his oeuvre. He enjoys combining the Amsterdam streetscape in a playful way with logos from luxury brands.
Although his style is modern, he uses classical techniques inspired by masters such as Rembrandt. He builds up his paintings with 8 to 12 layers of acrylic paint. Each painting begins with a bold charcoal sketch on canvas. The paint is then applied thickly, creating a tactile, three-dimensional texture.
The paintings feature a gold wax seal with Triest's signature and are supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
