About this artwork
Amsterdam painting - Canal houses with boat - by artist Rick Triest
A portrait-format Amsterdam canal scene, featuring a row of stepped gables, a bridge with lanterns, and a boat on the water in the foreground. Rick Triest depicts the buildings in shades of brown and blue with thick gold contour lines; the water and sky are rendered in bright blue and white. An atmospheric cityscape without brand logos, showcasing the classic side of his canal work.
About Rick Triest:
Rick Triest (Purmerend, 1989) is a contemporary Dutch artist. He is entirely self-taught and describes his work as hotel chic and glamour. The iconic Amsterdam canal houses are a recurring theme in his oeuvre, often playfully combined with logos from luxury brands.
Although his style is modern, he uses classical techniques inspired by masters such as Rembrandt. Each painting begins with a charcoal sketch on canvas, which he then builds up with 8 to 12 layers of acrylic paint. The thickly applied paint creates a tactile, almost three-dimensional texture.
The paintings feature a gold wax seal with Triest's signature and are supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

As an art collector I am satisfied with the advice of Moderne Kunst! The choice of artists such as Pieter Vonk, Van Apple, Nissim Men and Peter Donkersloot makes me feel like a kid in a candy store.
We were helped professionally and enthusiastically. We were even allowed to take several paintings on inspection. Our Guy Olivier hangs great! We will definitely come back.
What a great shop:-) We dropped in on a Saturday and were helped very pleasantly. After seeing a beautiful work, we thought about it for a while, and then it was no problem to see the screen print within our interior.
