This Mixed Media painting features the legendary actor and racing driver Steve McQueen, portrayed in a raw, dynamic pop art style with bright red, black, and white splashes.
Steve McQueen was a fanatical car and motorcycle racer. He competed in professional races and starred in the iconic motorsport film Le Mans (1971). The expression 'living in the fast lane' suits the lifestyle and rebellious character of 'the king of cool' McQueen.
Chapeau works with a distinctive mix of screen printing, collage, and thick layers of acrylic paint, often enriched with vintage newspapers. The result is layered, tactile work that never feels completely flat.
The monotypes are created by the artist in a very limited edition and are stretched on a thick stretcher frame whose sides are painted.
