Ode to Sophia Loren (Sofia Villani Scicolone) the Italian actress who became an international film icon by Ronald Chapeau. 3 portraits of Sophia Loren have been incorporated into this artwork and processed in a blue frame. In the top left corner we see the vintage newspaper headline: 'Universal Moving Artist'.
Chapeau works with a characteristic mix of screen printing, collage and thick layers of acrylic paint, often enriched with vintage newspapers. The result is layered, tactile work that never feels entirely flat.
The monotypes are produced by the artist in a very limited edition and are stretched on a thick stretcher frame, the sides of which are also painted.
