This artwork is a modern pop-art interpretation of 'The Night Watch' by Rembrandt, created by the Dutch artist Diederik van Apple. In a humorous and provocative way, he has replaced all the faces with famous Hollywood actors and pop icons. The addition of a large chandelier and animals such as lions, a mammoth, and butterflies also gives the work a glamour touch.

Diederik van Apple is a contemporary artist from Leiden. Under the name Van Apple Art, he combines pop culture, iconic brands, film, and children's cartoons into colorful, recognizable works with a quirky visual language.
