Van Apple - BMF King Kong sculpture large
The sculpture is a unique and impressive piece made from a combination of high-quality materials, including chrome, acrylic, and resin. The statue measures 70 x 50 x 50 cm (large).
The statue depicts the iconic movie gorilla King Kong in an imposing boxing stance. He stands firmly on a large, star-shaped gold pedestal. Around his waist, he wears a gold championship belt, and a shiny crown sits upon his head. The eye-catchers are the glossy red boxing gloves adorned with the Louis Vuitton monogram, which create a sharp and ironic contrast between the rugged strength of the gorilla and the refined luxury of high fashion.
About Van Apple:
Van Apple (Diederik van Appel, born 1985 in Leiden) grew up surrounded by comic books, iconic films, and a fascination for fantasy versus reality. After years as an art representative at an Amsterdam gallery, he began designing his own sculptures in which pop culture, fashion, and well-known brands converge — the Fashion Monkeys are the clearest example of this.
